My training philosophy is...
- Humane Treatment Always - for all animals from our house pets to marine life
- Treat the cause of the Behavior not just the Symptom
- To fully understand what you the dog owner deems as the problem
- Dogs have individual personalities therefore training techniques vary from dog to dog.
- If your dog can not learn the way we are training, I must change my training techniques to suite the dog, this is my job.
I believe....
- Training should never be painful
- You must find what motivates your dog to work for you, toys, treats, etc. to encourage learning
- Lots of patience, a great sense of humor
- Be consistent in your training
- Do not give up, training will happen
My training methods include...
- Positive Reinforcement - The dog works to get things he/she likes
- Negative Punishment - Taking away something the dog likes, a favorite toy or being ignored etc.
- Negative Reinforcement - The dog works to avoid things he finds unpleasant, being ignored, missing a treat etc.
- Positive punishment - simple words "No" or Wrong"
I look forward to working with you and your dog. Perhaps in the future I will see you in one of my Pet First Aid classes I will be offering in various locations throughout Calgary by Spring of 2010.
